UChicago Medicine to Build $663M Cancer Center
The academic medical center will build Chicago’s first-ever freestanding cancer center, in the South Side

of South Side residents seek outpatient care outside of their neighborhood.
We’re doing something to change that.

01.
Addressing Health Inequities
Chicago, and the South Side, bears an unequal cancer burden. We want to change that by making top-tier cancer care accessible for those who need it most.
02.
Personalized Cancer Care
We will provide a one-stop-shop for comprehensive, tailored care plans to treat patients, and their families holistically and compassionately.
03.
Cutting-edge Treatments
As one of only two NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in Illinois, we offer access to clinical trials and cutting-edge therapies to attack cancer head on.
04.
Patient Safety & Outcomes
As a U.S. News & World Report top-25 cancer hospital in the country, we’re committed to keeping patients safe, from diagnosis to recovery.
Get to know the new hospital
UChicago Medicine, one of only two National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in Illinois and the only academic medical center on the South Side, is uniquely positioned to provide cutting-edge cancer therapies and outpatient services, and significantly increase access to patients who really need it.
We’ve dedicated time and resources to design a cancer center that provides onsite access to comprehensive screening, treatments and clinical trial opportunities because we know it’s important.
Why is it important? The South Side carries a higher cancer burden but has little local cancer care. Research shows that patients living farther from health care facilities have worse health outcomes, longer hospitalizations and low cancer survival rates.
We want to change that.
WE’RE COMMITTED!
to providing the best personalized cancer care for you.
